Over 35 years of experience in ecological and environmental sector as a researcher, university faculty, administrator and a consultant. Knowledge about environmental planning, policy planning for environmental impact studies and environ mental appraisal for a variety of developmental projects including activities from Indian Administrative system and other research activities. Experience in integrated environmental management activities for sustainable development of natural resources. Actively involved in carrying out a number of environmental assessment activities including close cooperation with NGOs. Experience about activities relating to bio-diversity conservation and management including planning for management of protected areas.

Work experience includes: as Additional Secretary I/c of the Department of Science & Technology and Departments of Ecology and Environment, Karnataka. Consultant to Government of Orissa for the Water Resources Project (World Bank), National Law School of India in Environmental Law (World Bank funded project), Bangalore Agenda Task Force for Solid Waste Management, Calcutta Municipality for their Sanitation and Drinking water project (ADB funded) and Australia assisted Sanitation Project of Bangalore Water Supply & Sewerage Board.

Other former positions held includes – Member, Karnataka State Planning Board; Visiting Fellow, Mangalore University; Member, Task Force of National Planning Commission on Problems of Ecologically Fragile Ecosystem; Resource Person & Coordinator for GTZ-Hazardous Waste Management Project (pre-feasibility study); Resource Person for GTZ-preparation of country status paper on prioritizing areas for assistance in environment sector and Adviser to indo-German project in eco-profiling of areas for environmentally compatible siting of industries.
